Appboy Raises $7.6M in Series A Financing

APPBOY MOBILE ENGAGEMENT CAMPAIGNAppboy, a NYC-based platform for mobile relationship management (MRM), raised $7.6m in a Series A round of financing.

The round was led by Icon Venture Partners, with participation from IDG Ventures and Mike Lazerow, CEO of Buddy Media and existing investors Blumberg Capital, T5 Capital, Bullpen Capital and Accelerator Ventures.

The company plans to use the funds to build sales and marketing team, and expand product offerings.

Co-founded by Mark Ghermezian, Bill Magnuson and Jon Hyman, Appboy provides companies with a suite of marketing automation products and a team of mobile experts to manage the lifecycle of their users. In addition to user segmentation and location targeting, the company offers multi-channel messaging (push notifications, in-app messages, email), an in-app news feed and in-app customer support.
Clients include Text+, Urban Outfitters, GSN, and PopSci, among others.
