According to TechCrunch, UpCounsel, a San Francisco, CA-based online workplace for businesses to find, hire and work with attorneys, raised $1.5m in seed funding.
Backers included Homebrew, Bobby Yazdani, SV Angel, Collaborative Fund, Haroon Mokhtarzada, and other angels.
Founded in 2012 by CTO Mason Blake and CEO Matt Faustman, UpCounsel is on online workplace for large and small businesses to find, hire and work with vetted independent attorneys, which relies on the platform as their back-office infrastructure.
To date, the service has matched more than 1,000 startups and small businesses with attorneys. UpCounsel gets a small percentage for making the connection between the two.
