Top VCs and Experts Launch Data Elite to Back Big Data Startups

The Social+Capital Partnership, Andreessen Horowitz, Formation8, Ron Conway, and Anand Rajaraman teamed up to launch a San Francisco, CA-based venture lab and early stage fund for big data startups and scientists.

Founded by Tasso Argyros, founder of Aster Data, and Managing Director Stamos Venios, Data Elite will provide a minimum of $150k investment through common stock purchase and convertible notes, working space, support staff, customer board and resources to transform founding teams with expertise around data into viable and impactful companies.

The investment vehicle is searching for companies with teams with at least five years of subject matter expertise around data, or proven success in a data-related field, as well as an incorporated company or a concrete idea with the intention of starting a company.

The three-month program will initially be comprised of 5-10 companies, and will begin on January 15th, 2014. Applications are being taken by individuals and teams until December 15th, 2013.
