Rumble Entertainment Closes $17.5M Series B Financing

Rumble Entertainment, a San Mateo, Calif.-based developer and publisher of premium, multiplatform free-to-play games, closed a $17.5m Series B round of financing.

The round, which brought the total amount raised to date to over $35m, was led by Nexon (3659.TO), a developer of immersive free-to-play games, with participation from TriplePoint Capital, Google Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

The company intends to use the financing to expand its portfolio of games and bring them to more devices and players.

Led by Greg Richardson, founder and CEO, Rumble Entertainment has just released its first game, KingsRoad, in open beta. It is a medieval action role-playing game available on the web and Facebook with more than one million monthly active players. Rumble plans to launch the game soon on tablets and in localized languages.
Other games include Ballistic, a fast paced first-person shooter; and Nightmare Guardians, a multiplayer tower defense game.
