Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) acquired Flutter, a San Francisco, California-based startup that combines computer vision with hand detection to allow users to control computers & mobile devices through hand gestures.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. WI Harper Group, Andreessen Horowitz, Spring Ventures, New Enterprise Associates and Y-Combinator invested in the company.
Founded in late 2010 by Navneet Dalal and Mehul Nariyawala, the Flutter app utilizes gesture recognition technology over a built-in webcam in one’s computer to allow a user to control iTunes, Spotify, VLC, QuickTime and others using hand gestures.
