Q Factor Communications Corp., a Waltham, Massachusetts-based provider of dynamic packet recovery software, raised $6.5m in funding.
Backers included Sigma Prime Ventures and Venrock. In conjunction with the funding, Mike Tyrrell, Partner at Venrock, and John Simon, General Partner at Sigma Prime Ventures, joined the company’s board.
Led by founder and CEO Subhash Roy, Q Factor is developing solutions that aim to improve the delivery and viewing of media-rich content on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Its dynamic packet recovery software, which allows companies to deliver content over wireless to eliminate data packet loss and give users a higher quality experience, will be commercially available in early 2014.
