WISeKey Closes $25M Pre-IPO Funding Round

WISeKey, a Geneva, Switzerland-based provider of mobile cybersecurity solutions, closed a $25m Pre-IPO funding round.

The round includes a $10m investment raised in thew second quarter of 2013 and a JV partner’s option to invest an additional $15m pre IPO.

The company intends to use the proceeds to enter the BRIC markets and relocate a number of activities to the USA. It also expects to raise an additional pre-IPO $40M, which will include the expansion of WISeKey headquarters to the USA.

Founded in 1999 by Carlos Moreira, CEO, WISeKey provides businesses, governments and individuals with software and services to authenticate the identity of communicators, signatures, and objects during Internet transactions.
The company aims to maintain several areas of business in Switzerland including its digital brand protection technology WISeAuthentic© while has already relocated to its development lab to Vietnam where it employs 80 engineers for the development WISeID Personal©, the mobile app using encryption technology to store private information and WISfans.com©, its social network for sports fans.
