Synergis Education, a Phoenix, Az.-based provider of educational services to colleges and universities, closed a $33m Series A financing.
Backers included University Ventures Fund I, L.P. and affiliated entities, Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA and University of Texas Investment Management Co. In conjunction with the investment, Jörn Caumanns, Executive Vice President at Bertelsmann, joined Synergis’ Board of Directors.
The company plans to use the proceeds to add and grow programs at existing partner universities, as well as to add new partners in other areas of the U.S.
Led by CEO and co-founder Norm Allgood, Synergis is working with Cornerstone University, Gwynedd-Mercy University, Urbana College, Cardinal Stritch University, Warner Pacific College, and Averett University to fund, establish and grow onground, online and hybrid degree programs for non-traditional adult learners.
