Joota Raises $700K in Funding

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based Joot Ventures Sdn Bhd, the parent company of Joota, a social content network, raised $700K in funding.

Backers included Interactive E Solutions JLT of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which committed $500K and, an individual angel investor, who committed $200K.

The company intends to use the funds for product development and expansion of its global marketing and promotional efforts.

Led by Mr. Ashran Ghazi, co-founder and COO, Joota helps users build meaningful social networks around content that matters to them and socialize around images, videos, text, etc.
It features a bookmarklet that helps users collect content from the Internet and start a conversation.
Joota is also built with integration in mind, so users can choose to share content they have collected and curated with friends on social networks and embed “joots” on blogs and websites.
The company had already raised approximately $1.6m in funding from various other investment sources.
