dunnhumby Launches Retail Technology Seed Fund

dunnhumby, a global customer science company, today launched dunnhumby Ventures, a Boston, MA-based seed-stage investment fund focusing on innovations in retail technology.

Led by Dave Balter, a venture partner at Boston Seed Capital, a mentor with TechStars, and is an investor and advisor to dozens of startups including Promoboxx, FitnessKeeper and ProctorCam, dunnhumby Ventures will fund startups (average initial investments will be $100k-$500k) that leverages data for innovations along the consumer’s path to purchase and will provide strategic input and mentorship as well.

The first companies selected for dunnhumby Ventures include:

InfoScout, a San Francisco-based provider of a real-time analytics panel that gives brands a comprehensive view of customer behavior, by item, across all retailers;
Coherent Path, which uses big data analytics to optimize the customer journey and lifetime value.
The Shelf, which connect brands with relevant bloggers.
The fund is actively evaluating other opportunities.
