Blu Wireless Technology Raises $3.1M in Funding

Blu Wireless Technology, a Bristol, UK-based WiFi company, raised $3.1m (£2m) in funding.

The round was led by Qi3 Accelerator, with participation from the Angel Co-Fund, Wren Capital, the London Business Angels 2013 EIS fund and other private investors.

The SETsquared‘s company will use the funds to further grow and double its staff numbers to 30 to accelerate the development of its WiFi (801.11ad WiGig) baseband intellectual property.

Led by CEO Henry Nurser, Blu Wireless Technology develops low cost 60GHz WiGig technology for WiGig and 4G backhaul applications. The 60GHz band enables multi-gigabit data transfer and is vital for the growing WiGig (802.11ad WiFi) and 4G backhaul markets. It allows baseband chip manufacturers to develop and launch wireless ICs with 60GHz functionality.
