mxHero Closes $1.25M Seed Funding

mxHero, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of email applications for business on Google Apps Marketplace and creator of a multi-platform email app store, closed a $1.25m seed funding round.

Backers included White Star Capital, angel investors Esther Dyson and Ari Kushner as well as several Latin America-focused technology investors.

Co-founded in Brazil by CEO Alex Panagides, Bruno Santos, Marcelo Marmol and Marcelo Correa,  mxHero provides an email enhancement platform and app store that gives companies, service providers and end users tools to control, use and analyze email. Apps developed for mxHero’s open source platform work with any email management program, including Gmail and Microsoft Exchange, Zimbra and Lotus. More than 5,500 companies with 350,000 users.
The company serves 90,000 users on Google Apps Marketplace and more than 350,000 users worldwide. It recently expanded its offering to AWS Marketplace.

mxHero also established a board of advisors with email, technology and strategy experts. Advisors include:
– Joshua Baer, serial email entrepreneur and chief innovation officer of Return Path
– Stephen Singam, chief enterprise security technologist for HP Asia Pacific, and
– Art Mikhlin, former senior vice president of strategy and corporate development for Adify.
