Don Mattrick Joins Zynga as CEO

San Francisco, California-based social game services company Zynga, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZNGA) has named Don Mattrick as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors.

The move follows the recent massive workforce cut (read here). Zynga’s founding chief executive officer Mark Pincus will remain in the company as  Chairman of the board and Chief Product Officer.

Mattrick, 49, married with two children, spent six years at Microsoft. During the last three he was President of the Interactive Entertainment Business and was responsible for the team that launched Xbox 360. Mattrick had previously served as the president of Worldwide Studios at Electronic Arts.

He will join Pincus in a newly formed Executive Committee to manage the operations and affairs of the company between Board meetings.
