Thumbtack Closes $12.5M Series B Funding

Thumbtack, a San Francisco, CA-based platform to hire trusted local service professionals, closed a $12.5m Series B funding.

The round was led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from existing investors Javelin Venture Partners and MHS Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Sequoia’s Bryan Schreier will join Thumbtack’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its team.

Launched in 2009 by Marco Zappacosta, CEO, Thumbtack Thumbtack directly connects consumers to 250,000 service professionals in all 50 states across every type of local service imaginable such as maintaining a home, plan events, learn new skills, improve wellness, etc.
The company clims to generate about $300m a year in new business for local professionals nationwide.
