Cuyana, a San Francisco, CA-based new high-end fashion brand, raised $1.7m in funding.
Canaan Partners provided the capital.
Co-founded by Karla Gallardo and Shilpa Shah, Cuyana aims to design and produce elegant, premium-quality accessories and apparel. The company does all design in-house sourcing fine materials from all over the world and working with skilled global craftsmen.
It is also launching a new “Lean Closet” movement, which incentivizes customers to buy less and donate unwanted items to nonprofits, which will then pick up and deliver to people in need. Every customer that donates will get credit towards her next Cuyana purchase.
