Canvas Closes $4M in Series C Funding

Canvas, a Reston, VA-based provider of mobile apps for businesses, closed a $4m in Series C funding.

The round was led by Osage Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Motorola Solutions Venture Capital.

The company intends to use the capital to further develop Canvas, to expand in markets across the globe, and to accelerate usage of MyCanvas, a personal data Cloud that provides consumers and business users with searchable access to data collected about them via the Canvas service.

Led by James Quigley, CEO, Canvas is a cloud-based software service that enables users to collect information using mobile devices, share that information and integrate with existing backend systems. The platform also offers a mobile business application store, allowing businesses from diverse industries to find mobile apps specific to their needs.
Its apps work on Android, Blackberry, BlackBerry Playbook, iPhone, iPad, and Windows mobile/desktop devices, are customizable by the end user, incorporate such functionality as GPS, image capture, barcode scanning, electronic signatures and can access to business lists such as parts catalogs and patient records.
