VMTurbo Raises Series C Funding

VMTurbo, a Waltham, Mass.-based developer of workload management software for cloud and virtualized environments, raised un undisclosed amount of in Series C funding.

The company said it has raised $25m to date. Reports related to previous rounds suggest that this funding could amount to $7.5m. VMTurbo had raised a $10m in Series B in 2011 (read here).

The round was led by Globespan Capital.

The company intends to use the funding to accelerate sales and marketing efforts, as well as product development.

Founded in 2009 and led by president and CEO Lou Shipley, VMTurbo provides VMTurbo Operations Manager, which is a solution that is designed to understand application performance, resource utilization and capacity constraints in a virtualized data center, and is able to automatically adjust allocation to ensure service based on priority.
Strategic partners include VCE and NetApp. Customers include IDC Frontier and KPN, CSC, BT, LayeredTech, Internet Solutions, British Telecom, Colgate, CSC and the London School of Economics, and others.

The company also said it named Chris Reisig as vice president of worldwide sales.
