Updater Raises $5M in Series A Funding

Updater, a New York-based provider of a website that enables families and individuals to update all of their personal accounts and records, connect home services and change of address, raised $5m in a Series A funding.

Backers included SoftBank Capital, IA Ventures and other undisclosed investors.

The company intends to use the capital to hire new people (read here), expand technology and increse its marketing efforts.

Led by David Greenberg, CEO and Founder, Updater offers a free web site that allows users to schedule cable, electric, and other utilities to be transferred to their new home, file their official mail forwarding form with the U.S. Postal Service. The service also give access to discounts through its relocation network.
