Foley & Lardner Raises $2.6M Venture Capital Fund

Law firm Foley & Lardner LLP raised $2.6m venture capital fund focused on investing in or with its clients.

The law firm, which has now raised $6.6m between its first and second funds and invested in 32 clients, also runs the Chicago based incubator Catapult Chicago.

Foley Ventures Fund II will invest in a portfolio company when an attorney is working with a venture fund client. For start-up or emerging companies, the fund will invest if the company receives a simultaneous investment from a venture fund or angel group. Fund II will also invest in other venture capital or private equity funds that are managed or sponsored by clients.

Led by Gabor Garai, chairman, Foley’s Private Equity & Venture Capital Practice included more than 200 attorneys focused on the full range of public and private debt and equity vehicles and their investment activities offering legal services including intellectual property, employee benefits, tax, finance, real estate and corporate transactions.
