Songza Raises $3.8M in Equity Funding

According to a filing with the S.E.C. (read here), Songza, a NYC-based provider of a music streaming app, raised $3.8m in equity funding.

Backers were not listed in the filing but it is known that 27 investors participated in the round.

Created by Aza Raskin and Scott Robbin, and launched in September 2011, Songza is a free music streaming and recommendation service curated by experts, which is available only in the United States and Canada due to licensing constraints.

In September 2011, the company raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Deep Fork Capital, Geoff Judge and another unnamed investor (read here).
