Proximal Data, a San Diego, CA-based provider of server-side caching solutions specifically designed for virtualized environments, raised $2m in Series B funding.
Backers included existing investor Avalon Ventures and new investor Divergent Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to increase its sales distribution channels and extend its reach to include more global markets, as well as further advance the storage I/O caching capabilities of its AutoCache,
Led by Rory Bolt, CEO, Proximal Data provides AutoCache, a fast virtual cache software that eliminates I/O bottlenecks in virtualized servers. The software plugs into hypervisors, such as VMware’s ESXi, and transparently works on all I/O without requiring agents in guest operating systems.
This round brings the total amount raised by the company to date to $5m.
