NorthEdge Capital Closes Maiden Fund at £225M

UK-based lower middle market private equity firm NorthEdge Capital has held the final close for its maiden fund at £225m.

NorthEdge Capital Fund I LP raised funds from global blue-chip institutional investors, including CNP Assurances, European Investment Fund, Industriens Pension, MLC Investments, Pathway Capital Partners and West Yorkshire Pension Fund.

Led by Grant Berry, Andy Ball, Ray Stenton, Dan Wright and Michael Joseph (who are based in Manchester and Leeds), the fund will focus on the North of England targeting investments of between £5m and £35m in businesses with enterprise values of between £10m and £100m.

NorthEdge, which achieved the first close of its maiden fund at £125m in summer 2012 (read here), completed its first deal in February after acquiring a significant stake in FPE Global, a specialist engineering business in Stockport.
