Mavatar Technologies Raises $1M in Funding

Mavatar Technologies, a Menlo Park, CA-based developer of an iPad app and web browser add-on that allow consumers to compare items across multiple retailers while also searching valid coupons and promo codes, raised $1m in funding.

Backers included: Chris Kelly, Jeffery Moore, Ross Haghighat, and Dr. Afshin Graveli and his wife Anousheh.

Led by Dr. Brom Mahbod, co-founder and CEO, Mavatar Technologies has developed a free iPad app and web browser add-on that allow consumers to compare items across multiple retailers while also searching valid coupons and promo codes, whose discounts will be automatically applied to the selected items in the cart.
The app, which also allows users to create one wishlist with all their items in one place, regardless of the store, and store their personal coupons in one place, supports stores such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus , Banana Republic, Gap, and Old Navy, as well as retailers such as Bloomingdale’s, Athleta, Bergdorff Goodman, Horchow, Last Call, Piperlime and newly added Saks Fifth Avenue, Levi’s and Quicksilver.

The company is now working on increasing the number of partners.

The Advisory Board includes industry leaders within technology and retail such as the CEO of Yves Saint Laurent Paul Deneve, former Chief Privacy Officer of Facebook Chris Kelly, former CEO of Filene’s Jerry Socol and User Experience Guru Mitch Stein, who has worked with Apple, IBM, and Oracle.
