Spanning Cloud Apps, Inc., an Austin, Texas-based developer of an enterprise-class data protection solution, raised $6m in Series B funding.
The round was led by an undisclosed strategic investor with participation from existing investor Foundry Group LP.
Spanning Cloud Apps intends to use the capital to accelerate the build-out of its direct sales team and reseller channel, while further develping the product. It intends to grow headcount at its headquarters from 20 employees today to 50 by the end of 2013 (read here).
Founded in 2010 by Charlie Wood, CEO, the company provides Spanning Backup for Google Apps, a solution
that helps companies and users protect and manage their information in the cloud for Gmail, Drive, Sites, Calendars and Contacts.
