creativeLIVE Raises Additional Funding; Closes $8M Round

creativeLIVE, a Seattle and San Francisco-based live broadcast platform for creative education, raised additional funding and closed an $8m round.

Backers included Creative Artists Agency (CAA), William Morris Endeavor (WME), CrunchFund and Google Ventures, among others. They joined Greylock Partners, which had led a $7.5m round in October 2012 (read here).

In addition to the funding, Caterina Fake, the founder of Flickr, Chairwoman of Etsy and Founder of Findery, has joined the company’s board as an independent director.

Founded in April 2010 photographer, director and artist Chase Jarvis and entrepreneur Craig Swanson and led by Mika Salmi, CEO, creativeLIVE connects individuals with influential experts through a social video platform.
Current channels include photography, film, design, business and software training with others in development.
