Gynesonics Raises $21M Series D Funding

Gynesonics Inc., a Redwood City, California-based women’s healthcare company, raised a $21m Series D funding.

The round was led by HBM Partners, with participation new investor Correlation Ventures and existing investors Abingworth, Advanced Technology Ventures and InterWest Partners.

Led by Darrin Uecker, President and CEO, Gynesonics focuses on minimally invasive solutions for symptomatic uterine fibroids.
The company intends to use the money for clinical and commercial development of its the VizAblate(R) System, a transcervical, ultrasound-guided ablation system, which has the CE Mark in the European Union and is currently limited to investigational use in the United States.

In conjunction with the funding, Dr. Chandra P. Leo, Partner at HBM, joined Gynesonics’ Board of Directors.
