GlobeIn Raises $1.1M in Seed Funding

GlobeIn, a Mountain View, CA-based marketplace for local artisans worldwide, raised $1.1m in seed funding.

Investors include Bert Roberts, former MCI Chairman, David Gorodyansky, AnchorFree CEO, and Rick Roth, former CEO of Ogilvy Action.

The company intends to use the capital to expand its roster of countries, artists and products.

Led by Vladimir Ermakov, Chief Executive Officer, Anastasia Miron, Chief Operating Officer, and David Gorodyansky, Chairman of the Board, GlobeIn has just launched an online marketplace of artisanal and handmade goods from around the world. Customers can buy a range of ethnically diverse, handmade goods including jewelry, bags, clothes, rugs, housewares, furniture, and bath and beauty products.
The products can be bought directly from artisans, even if they don’t have access to the Internet, thanks to an offline network of representatives and volunteers.
The site already features over a thousand products by over a hundred artists from lands ranging such asRussia, Uzbekistan, Kenya and Mexico, among others.
