FlightCar, a San Francisco, CA-based marketplace that allows vehicle owners who have parked their cars at the airport to rent them out to other travelers, raised 570k in seed funding.
Backers included SV Angel, YC VC, TEEC Angel Fund, Vine St. Ventures, Bill Curtis, John Tan, Jim Patterson, Klaus von Sayn-Wittgenstein, Ken Porter, Josh Ferguson, and Lex Liao.
Founded by Rujul Zaparde, Kevin Petrovic, and Shri Ganeshram, FlightCar lets people parking at the airport rent their vehicles out to other travelers. Every rental is insured up to $1m, and every renter is pre-screened.
FlightCar is currently a member of the Y-Combinator W13 class graduating in March. It also participated in Cincinnati-based startup accelerator The Brandery.
