Altobridge, a Kerry, Ireland-based developer of wireless network solutions that cuts the cost of delivering mobile communications, raised US$7.8m in funding.
Backers included Intel Capital and IFC.
The company intends to use the capital to accelerate the roll-out of its solution in both urban and rural markets globally.
Founded in 202 and led by Mike Fitzgerald, CEO, Altobridge provides a mobile data optimization solution, Data-at-the-Edge™, which enables network operators to reduce their data transmission costs while improving their end-users’ Quality of Experience. Functionalities includes HTTP acceleration, in-line data and header compression, user data caching at the cell site, data traffic management and least-cost routing.
Altobridge, which has additional offices in the USA, China and Malaysia, covering sales, R&D, customer support and manufacturing, operates in over 30 countries worldwide.
