Agari Raises $5M

Agari, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based provider of email security solutions, received a $5m strategic investment.

Backers included an undisclosed strategic investor and existing shareholders Alloy Ventures, Battery Ventures, First Round Capital and Greylock Partners.

The company intends to use the capital to increase adoption of its products by financial institutions, social media and Internet commerce companies.

Led by Patrick Peterson, Founder and CEO, Agari provides a cloud-based solution that allows brands to assess, visualize and
protect themselves against email threats like phishing and other fraud. It daily protects over 2.3 billion emails.
Customers include global leaders in financial services, Internet commerce and social media.

In addition to the funding, the company added industry veterans Ingrum Putz (as Vice President of Engineering) and Vidur Apparao (as Chief Technology Officer) to its management team.
