Green Throttle Games Secured $6M in Series A Funding

Green Throttle Games, Inc., a Santa Clara, CA-based company that develops innovative games and hardware for mobile devices, has secured $6m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Trinity Ventures, with participation from DCM. In conjunction with the funding, Ajay Chopra, general partner at Trinity Ventures, has joined Green Throttle Games’ Board.

The company intends to use the capital to develop internal games, support external development, and advance software services.

Co-founded by Charles Huang, CEO, co-creator of the Guitar Hero video game franchise, Matt Crowley, President and COO, former Palm and Nokia product lead, and Karl Townsend, CTO, lead engineer for the first two generations of the Palm Pilot, Green Throttle Games aims to bring mobile gaming on big-screen TVs. The company builds multiplayer games, controllers (Atlas Controller), and a HDTV user experience (Arena App) that leverages the existing value of Android smartphones and tablets to play mobile and console-type games both on the go or together in the living room’s big-screen TVs.

Green Throttle is already working with development studios including nWay, Free Range Games, Mercenary Technology and Monstrous.
