Scour Prevention Systems Closes £300K Angel Funding

Scour Prevention Systems, a Lowestoft, UK-based offshore structure scour prevention specialist, has closed a circa £300k angel funding round.

Backers include a LBA super-angel (£150k), and other existing LBA investors (£100k).

Led by Mark Aspinall, CEO, Scour Prevention Systems is developing a novel IP protected cost effective system for protecting offshore structures from scour, a problem for offshore wind turbines caused by water speeding up around a turbine which gouges out a hole that gets progressively deeper.

The company, which previously raised a £350k round in August 2011 (read here), intends to use the funding to complete full sea trial of its system with its major commercial partner and secure further patent filings.
