121cast Raises $250K in Funding

121cast, the Melbourne, Australia-based startup behind SoundGecko, a free service that converts text into spoken words, has raised $250k in funding.

The round was led by SingTel Innov8, which made the investment as part of the Optus-Innov8 Seed Program, with participation from Adventure Capital.

The company intends to use the capital for product and business development.

Co-founded in February 2012 by Long Zheng, Andrew Armstrong and Edward Hooper, 121cast is creating a mobile app that provides users on-the-go with a free and personalized audio feed made up of news, weather, social network updates, podcasts, etc.
