Whisbi Receives Equity Investment from Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments

Whisbi, a Barcelona, Spain-based online communication service, has received an equity investment from Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI).

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the proceeds to strengthen infrastructure and expand across Europe, South America and the USA. Whisbi recently opened offices in London, UK and São Paulo, Brazil in July.

Led by Alex Bisbe, CEO and founder, and Jose Luis Cantero, CTO, the company combines live video and telephone to help brands realize additional online sales, especially in regards to complex products and services such as banking, insurance and telecommunications. Customers in Spain include Movistar, Vodafone, Citibank, American Express and Iberdrola, among others.

Whisbi has raised $2.5m in funding to date. Other investors in Whisbi include Amerigo Innvierte Spain Ventures, managed by Active Venture Partners.
