Pure Storage Closes $40M Series D Funding

Pure Storage, a Mountain View, CA-based all-flash enterprise storage array company, has closed a $40m Series D funding.

The round was led by Index Ventures’ Senior Partner Mike Volpi, with participation from existing investors Greylock Partners, Redpoint Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures.

The company intends to use the funding to accelerate its go to market strategy, including expanding internationally, with immediate plans to establish operations in Europe in conjunction with channel partners, and grow sales, marketing and engineering teams (http://www.purestorage.com/company/jobs.html).

Led by Scott Dietzen, CEO, Pure Storage enables the broad deployment of flash in the data center. Its FlashArray is ideal for high performance workloads, including server virtualization, desktop virtualization (VDI), database (OLTP, real-time analytics) and cloud computing.
In conjunction with the financing, Volpi, will join the company as a strategic advisor and will take a seat on its board of directors.
