Shape Security Raises Series A Funding

Shape Security, a Mountain View, CA-based startup developing web security technology, has raised a Series A funding of undisclosed amount.

The round was led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Eric Schmidt’s TomorrowVentures, with participation from Google Ventures, Baseline Ventures, former partners from Sequoia and Accel, and executives from Dropbox, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter including Deep Nishar (LinkedIn), Gokul Rajaram (Facebook) and Ramsey Homsany (Dropbox).

The company intends to use the funding for engineer hiring and product design.

Led by Derek Smith, CEO, Shape Security is developing a new category of web defense products. It also expanded its executive team to add former Google “click fraud czar” Shuman Ghosemajumder, to drive marketing, strategy and business development.
