Openbucks Closes $4.8M Series A Funding

Openbucks, a Mountain View, CA-based Gift Card Payment Network, has closed a $4.8m Series A funding.

The round was led by Yahoo co-founder, Jerry Yang, with participation from Terry Semel, Greycroft Partners, BV Capital, Clearstone Ventures, Morado Ventures, Novel TMT Ventures, Inspiration Ventures, CrunchFund, SV Angel and TiE Angels.

The company intends to use the funding for continued development of its acceptance network.

Led by founder and CEO Marc Rochman and CTO Geva Solomonovich, Openbucks provides a gift card payment network tyat enables consumers who don’t have credit cards or a bank account, or who prefer to keep their financial information private, to pay for online goods and services using the gift cards of major retailers.
