Lemon Raises $8M in Series A Funding

Lemon, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based mobile money management app provider, has secured $8m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Maveron, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, CampVentures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, The Social+Capital Partnership, and other Silicon Valley-based entrepreneurs and angel investors.

Founded in 2011 by CEO Wences Casares, Lemon is launching the Smarter Wallet, a mobile money management tool that lets users keep a backup copy of the items in their wallet. The company offers receipt organization and spending management tools that allows people to digitize paper receipts and store them alongside e-receipts in a personal financial vault.

The company intends to use the funding to launch and expansion the Smarter Wallet, which is now included in both the basic Lemon Free service and the premium Lemon Pro service for $9.99 per month.
