Awarepoint Corporation Raises $14M in Funding

As we anticipated yesterday (read here) Awarepoint Corporation, a San Diego, CA-based provider of real-time location system (RTLS) solutions for healthcare, has raised $14m in additional financing.

Backers include the Heritage Healthcare Innovation Fund (HHIF), a limited partnership operated by Heritage Group, which invested $7.5m, as well as existing shareholders Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Cardinal Partners, Venrock, Jafco Ventures, Avalon Ventures, New Leaf Venture Partners and Top Tier Capital Partners, which committed the balance of the round.

The company intends to use the funding to expand its professional services, client management and manufacturing capabilities.

Led by CEO Jay Deady, Awarepoint provides a complete RTLS solution optimizing healthcare workflow to improve asset management and availability, patient throughput and care team efficiency.
Its aware360°Suite allows hospitals to manage and track mobile assets, patients and personnel, monitor blood, tissue and medication temperature, increase hand hygiene compliance, and improve patient and caregiver workflows across healthcare facilities as well as in specific areas including emergency and perioperative departments.
