Sleepy’s Receives Investment from Calera Capital

Sleepy’s, a Hicksville, New York-based mattress retailer, has received an investment of undisclosed amount from Calera Capital, a middle-market private equity firm.

Calera made the investment as part of the recapitalization of the company.

Founded in 1957 by Harry Acker, Sleepy’s operates over 800 retail stores, with a significant presence in the Northeast. Leveraging its nationwide distribution capability and various branded platforms, the company also has a non-store based direct business including 1-800 Mattress, mattress.com and Sleepys.com, and a wholesale division serving various web retailers, hotels and affinity groups.

Sleepy’s is led by CEO David Acker and COO Adam Blank.
