Tobii Technology Closes $21M Funding Round

Tobii Technology, a Danderyd, Sweden-based developer of eye tracking and gaze interaction technologies, has closed a $21m funding round.

New investor Intel Capital joins existing investors Amadeus Capital, Investor Growth Capital and Northzone Ventures. In conjunction with the investment, Ian Cooper of Intel Capital, will join the company’s board.

The company intends to use the capital to continue R&D investments in core technology including their organization (http://www.tobii.com/en/group/careers/welcome/), build new strategic competences, and to take its solutions to mainstream computers and other mass-market applications such as such as mainstream computers, cars, games and other consumer and professional products.
Founded in 2001 and led by CEO Henrik Eskilsson, Tobii Technology has developed eye tracking and gaze technology, which makes it possible for computers to know exactly where users are looking. It delivers the technology and OEM components to applications such as computers, gaming and vehicle safety systems.

The company has offices in the U.S., China, Germany, Japan and Norway, as well as a worldwide network of resellers and partners.
