PlayMob Secures £500K in Funding

PlayMob, a Birmingham Science Park, UK-based company that has developed technology which enables charities to fundraise through in-game micropayments, has secured £500k in funding.

Backers include venture capital fund manager Midven and NESTA, as well as angel investors.

The company intends to use the capital to increase its staff from 8 to 13, automate the technology and develop a range of add-ons that help generate further revenue.

Founded in 2007 by CEO Jude Ower, PlayMob has developed a “GiverBoard” technology which connects computer games with charities, so players can fundraise for charities by purchasing virtual items within a game.
