Viddy Raises $6M in Series A Financing

Viddy, a Venice, CA-based mobile social video application, has raised $6m in Series A financing.

The round was led by Battery Ventures, with participation from Greycroft Ventures and Qualcomm.

The company intends to use the new capital to accelerate international expansion and bring its app to new devices, including the iPad and Android phones and tablets.

Launched in April 2011 by CEO Brett O’Brien, Viddy is a mobile social video application that enables users to shoot, improve and share 15-second video clips using Adobe and Final Cut style visual effects pre-bundled into one-click production packages. Special effects include graphics, color correction and audio tracks. Production Pack options include: Solarize, Red, Exposed, Retro, Glam, Black & White, Crystal, Hued, Vintage, Junkd, & 3D. Viddy also offers branded/partner Production Packs including: Snoop Dogg, Incubus, the Muppets, and T-Pain.
Users can add titles, tags, and geo-location with Foursquare and share via the Viddy network, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, email, SMS or to a personal website with the new embed codes.
