Ruckus Wireless Secures $21.7M in Financing

Ruckus Wireless, a Sunnyvale, CA-based provider of advanced wireless systems for the mobile Internetworking market, has secured $21.7m in financing.

The round was led by new investors Meritech Capital Partners and SingTel Innov8, a wholly owned subsidiary of the SingTel group, with participation from existing investors.
This investment brings the total amount raised by the company since its formation in June 2004 to $72.7m.

Ruckus intends to use the capital to expand into the carrier mobile Internet infrastructure market as well as to bolster its position in the enterprise wireless LAN market. To this end, the company also named two industry veterans, Richard J. Lynch and Georges Antoun, to its board of directors.

Led by president and CEO Selina Lo, Ruckus Wireless markets and manufactures a wide range of indoor and outdoor “Smart Wi-Fi” products for mobile operators, broadband service providers, and corporate enterprises globally. The company invented and has patented wireless technology, such as adaptive antenna arrays that focus and direct Wi-Fi transmissions over the best signal path, automatically avoiding sources of Wi-Fi interference. It has over 55 patents, 12,000 customers, and 4,000 solution partners worldwide and employs over 450 staff in 22 countries.
