Ridejoy Raises $1.3M in Seed Funding

Ridejoy, a San Francisco, CA-based social ridesharing marketplace that connects people for long distance roadtrips, has raised $1.3m in seed funding.

The round was led by Freestyle Capital, with participation from Lerer Ventures, Start Fund, SV Angel, Founder Collective, Y Combinator, Ben Ling, Owen Van Natta and Joshua Schachter.

The company intends to use the capital to increase design and engineering capacity, as well as expand beyond its current West Coast presence.

Led by co-founder Kalvin Wang, Ridejoy is a social community that allows drivers and passengers to share rides giving a way for people to fill extra seats that would otherwise be unused on long distance roadtrips. To find travel companions, the marketplace members post rides offered or rides needed.
flexible payment options include cash or credit card, adding a layer of reliability for drivers.
It currently covers more than 300 West Coast destinations, ranging all the way from Vancouver in the north to San Diego in the south.
