Game Closure Closes $12M Series A Financing

Game Closure, a Palo Alto, CA-based developer of HTML5-based cross-platform game technology, has closed a $12m Series A financing.

The round was led by Highland Capital Partners, with participation from Greylock, Benchmark, General Catalyst, and Charles River Ventures.

The funds will be used to double in size over the next six months, with a focus on growing its engineering, data analytics, and design teams (http://www.gameclosure.com/jobs). Game Closure currently has 26 employees.

Founded in 2011 by CEO Michael Carter and CTO Martin Hunt, the company offers an HTML5 game development SDK and engine which helps game studios develop and publish games across the iOS and Android ecosystems. Game Closure’s SDK enables very small teams to build production quality games in 4-6 weeks and includes features for analytics, distribution, versioning, and internationalization.

In conjunction with the funding, Highland’s Andy Miller has joined the company’s board of directors.
