Unwired Nation Raises $6.5M in Funding

Unwired Nation, an Austin, TX-based, Mobile-Apps-As-A-Service company, has raised $6.5m in funding.

The financing was led by Dale Quisenberry, co-founder of Austin-based Crossroads Systems, with participation from Eric Simone, a Venture Partner in Corsa Ventures and an early investor in BazaarVoice, and Irl Nathan, an investor in Caringo, among others.

The company intends to use the funding to continue to grow and expand partnership opportunities with established web software companies.

In conjunction with the funding, Mr Quisenberry joined Unwired Nation’s board of directors.

Established in 2006 and led by CEO and co-founder Eric Smith, the company has built a platform designed to enable the deployment and maintenance of native mobile apps based on a customer’s existing web applications. Unwired Nation recently moved into new, expanded office space, and added four key executives to its team, including:
– Jay Holtz, COO,
– Steve Hencinski, Senior Sales Executive,
– Frank Geck, Director of Sales Engineering,
– Will Bridges, business development.
