Skyfire Labs Raises $8M in Series C Financing

Skyfire Labs, a Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of mobile video optimization and cloud solutions for mobility, has raised $8m in its Series C financing.

Backers include Verizon Investments LLC, a subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc. , as well as existing investors Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to increase engineering, sales and support resources, and expand into European and Asian markets.

In conjunction with the funding, John Rintoul has been named vice president of sales for Skyfire’s newly-opened EMEA office, based in London. Scott Boehmer has been named vice president of sales for Americas. Both regional leads will now report to the company’s SVP Global Sales, Jason Guesman.

Led by CEO Jeff Glueck, Skyfire Skyfire aims to improve the mobile Internet experience for both Operators and Consumers leveraging the power of cloud computing.
It provides Rocket Optimizer 2.0, a carrier-grade network video and data optimization platform, which was launched in October 2011.
The company also offers the Rocket Toolbar product line, a customizable web-based operator portal embedded in the default browser of new smartphones.
