BeachMint Raises $35M in Funding

BeachMint, a Santa Monica, CA-based social commerce company for designer-curated direct to consumer sites, has raised $35m in funding.

Backers include Accel Partners, Goldman Sachs, New World Ventures, Millenium Technology Value Partners, NALA, NEA, Trinity Ventures and Scale Ventures.

The capital from this new round, which brings the company’s total financing to over $75 million, will be used to further BeachMint’s global expansion, to bolster its existing brands, and to launch several new brands planned for 2012.  In conjunction with the funding, Greg Waldorf, currently CEO-in-Residence at Accel, will join the Board of Directors.

Launched in late 2010 by CEO Josh Berman and President Diego Berdakin, BeachMint operates four member-only sites:
– JewelMint.com, an exclusive jewelry line designed by fashion icon, Kate Bosworth, and celebrity stylist, Cher Coulter;
– StyleMint.com, a T shirt and apparel line designed by Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen;
– BeautyMint.com, a personalized skin care system created by Jessica Simpson and celebrity aesthetician Nerida Joy; and
– ShoeMint.com, an exclusive shoe collection designed by style icon, Rachel Bilson, and celebrity stylist, Nicole Chavez, in partnership with America’s iconic shoe maker, Steve Madden.
The company plans to announce two more celebrity partners in the coming months.
