Freshdesk Raises US$1M in Series A Funding from Accel Partners

Freshdesk, a Palo Alto, California-based social customer support start up, has secured US$1m in Series A venture capital funding from Accel Partners.

The company intends to use the funding to expand the product team and step up marketing and business development efforts.

Founded in 2010 by former Zoho executives Girish Mathrubootham (CEO) and Shanmugam Krishnasamy (CTO), Freshdesk is a SaaS-based social customer service platform that enables small and medium sized businesses to roll out a professional and modern customer support system.
Features include multi product support, knowledge base, self service portal, community forums and tools to leverage mainstream social media for customer support.
Already integrated with Google Apps Facebook and Twitter, the company plans to add more connections with other cloud services in the coming months.
Freshdesk now has customers in over 30 countries and is available in 6 languages.

In conjunction with the investment, Shekhar Kirani from Accel Partners will be joining the company’s board of directors.
